Tonight is the official start of this years Ithaca Festival ! Here’s a peek at our new window celebrating the theme of the festival, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by William Shakespeare. We’ve been drooling over this dress for a while now, wouldn’t it be the perfect whimsical wedding dress for Hippolyta, Amazonian queen?

Be sure to stop in and say hi, we’ll be here all weekend and might have a few surprises up our sleeves!

Made for Mom

Thursday, May 5th, 2011

In our experience, all Moms love handmade gifts. If this years Mother’s Day has snuck up on you, don’t worry– we got your back with a great selection of local, hand crafted goodies.

As part of our continuing work with local apothecary, Roots Rose Radish, we’ve happily replenished our collection with fresh new products. These vintage inspired shells hold our bergamint lip balm! Adorable and easy to spot in a cluttered purse.

Another of our local favorites, Carrie George, is known for her inspiring up-cycling abilities; turning vintage leather pieces into wearable bags and earrings. This buttery soft blue number has both handles and a cross body strap, and is accented by four differently colored leather highlights!

Finally, we are thrilled to introduce our new line of hand sewn totes by “Maggie Carey Originals”. Not only are they fun and colorful, they are made with incredible attention to detail. At only $25 a piece, they are the perfect gift for Mom (or you!).

Spring Styling with Petrune

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

Sure its still freezing in Ithaca, but with the upcoming spring breaks for both Cornell and IC, we can’t help dreaming of warmer weather.

We’ve recently received new shipments of spring-ready dresses, like this stunner from Tulle. At only $40, it’s a total steal! Lauren paired this dress with 1960s red cat-eye sunglasses, a red woven purse from the 1970s and red pumps from the 1980s.

We’ve also been busy searching for one of our favorite vintage staples for spring: 1950s sundresses. This sherbet-striped number hits right above the knee, perfect for edging into spring and summer. It’s shown with AJ Morgan sunglasses, one of our new One Swell Gal printed totes, and a collection of vintage bakelite bangles.

For rainy days, we suggest one of our new Tulle raincoats ($85). Isn’t the lining beautiful? We love how it looks with a 1970s crochet knit top, BB Dakota leggings and 1970s Gucci flats.

For a more casual look that will still keep away the spring chill, we’ve paired a green 1970s sweater dress with a classic light washed Levi’s jean jacket.

We love the idea of longer skirts for spring, and this 1940s mid-calf, pleated beauty is the perfect example. Here its shown with an Alternative Apparel lightweight distressed blouse (on sale for $40!), a square 1950s tapestry clutch, and auburn leather 1980s pumps.

Peggy Guggenheim

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

Muse of the month: Peggy Guggenheim, patron of the arts, trend setter, and avid collector of paintings, sculpture, jewelry and men. Her penchant for hanging jewelry on the wall inspired our decorator, Darrell P. to make a Peggy G. wall with some of our more sculptural pieces. Peggy’s jewelry was designed by artists like Alexander Calder and Juan Miro. We hung Victorian era Iroquois bead work, a Chinese embroidered necklace, and a group of beaded handbags dating from 1920′s – 1950′s.
