More Colorful, More Cozy

November 17th, 2011

I’ve been loving the look of our primary-colors window display! We’ve also got a lot of great feedback from our beautiful customers, so I’m glad you’re down with the bananna-yellow military jacket and blue suede shoes combo ; )

Keeping with the theme of “beautiful clothes that stave off crushing seasonal depression,” Bethany and I put together some outfits displaying the wonderful intersection of Comfort + Color.

Anyone can pull off an electric blue velvet overcoat with the proper accessories!

Fall in Full Color!

November 12th, 2011

With the leaves falling off the trees, the days getting shorter, and the awnings of the Farmer’s Market closing up, Ithaca does lose a bit of its vibrancy towards the end of fall. You however, do not have to! With neutrals taking the stage in the world around us, there is no better time to throw on a fuscia overcoat and make the world your supersaturated oyster.

Inspired by colorful looks like this vintage Pierre Cardin dress and this turquoise and Chartreuse ensemble from Facehunter, our current window aims to add a pop of pigment beyond the usual camel shades of fall. Enjoy!

A structured, colorful coat is the perfect combination of edge and class.

They're called the PRIMARY colors for more reasons than one.

Actually the most amazing collar I've ever seen on a sweater.

A Petrune Party with IMPP!

November 8th, 2011

As beautiful as the clothing in Petrune is, and as wonderfully creative as our window designs are, it is sometimes forgotten that we can throw an awfully classy cocktail party.

To show off this little-known skill, we teamed up with Ithaca Motion Picture Project for their most recent exhibit “Romance, Exploits, and Peril: When Movies were Made in Ithaca.” As part of an exhibit that spanned several local businesses, including Gimme! the State Theater, the local library, and more, we honored Ithaca’s history as a beacon of filmmaking almost 100 years ago. The cherry on top was a reception we held this past Friday, for lovers of film, fashion, food, and friends.

So many of our attendees looked like stars of the silver screen themselves, we thought it’d be criminal not to share some snaps from the party with y’all. Especially the guy in the skinny tie. Skinny ties are amazing. See the photos after the jump!

A Stylishly Spooky Halloween!

October 27th, 2011

Over the past couple weeks, I’ve noticed something worrisome about Petrune’s customers. They enter as they usually do, beautiful stylish people swaddled in fall hues, but when they leave… some are cowboys! Others become sailors, and I’ve seen a couple leave the store transformed into genuine 1920′s flappers. We’ve had Molly Ringwalds, Michael Jacksons, and Freddie Mercurys parading out the door all week!

But then, when you have a costume rental policy as nice as Petrune’s, who could resist? If you’ve yet to find that perfect outfit for Halloween, stop on by the store this week to pick out your awesome alter-ego. For only 25% of the retail price, you can rent any piece of clothing here at Petrune for a full week!

So, go a little crazy. Get that leather jacket with 2-foot fringe, or the dress with Cher-style sequins. To show you just a few possibilities, here’s Reece and Eleanor modeling some of our favorites. Photos after the jump!
